Yellow Fly
I was on Pelican Drive just passed the scenic walkway; a location where I lived quite peacfully some years prior. This time peace was not on the menu. Once the old Pizza-Hut-shaped house loomed to my left, there appeared an adversary. After an unsuccessful attempt at outruning the foe, I pulled a quick one-eighty and landed a right hook square in the face. The remainder of my route was completed without challenge.

OKC
We went to the zoo. There were some maned wolves. Maned wolves remind me of "those we don't speak of"... or dogs on stilts maybe. Also, Pax wasn't interested in the giant orangutan climbing around on the window.

Siren Sounds
I think Oklahoma State changed their tornado warning sirens while I was away. Because now it's just a beep noise.

Parenting Tip #1
I decided that I should occasionally write down some of the things I've learned in my parenting experience. You know, for those of you who may be starting down the same path and could use a little proven wisdom... or whatever. Remember to take notes!

City Doodles: Chicago
Available now on Amazon!
The kid's activity book I illustrated for Gibbs Smith is on it's way to meet the world... or at least Chicago anyway. I haven't actually seen a copy in real life yet. But in my head it's a pretty awesome book.
"Take a journey through Chicago with stops at Wrigley Field, the Adler Planetarium, and the Field Museum. See the city from an incredible vantage point on a skyscraper in the Loop, wander through the shops in the Magnificent Mile on Michigan Avenue, and don't forget to pick up a loaded hot dog while you're out."
Below is a sample of what the innards look like. In fact, this is a snapshot the whole entire book! You don't even have to go out and buy it now. Okay, so you can't really doodle in the pages like you were really wanting with this version... and now that I think about it, the text isn't in there either. But if you want to see some real samples and even get a peek some of Anna Lewis's incredible doodle prompting skills, you can head on over to amazon where there's that "click to look inside" option.

Dr. Dino
New healthcare laws are requiring hospitals to use electronic medical record software. Much to the dismay of many old-fashioned physicians. There aren't many available alternatives. It's pretty much embrace it or go extinct.

Speaking of books I'm in... Dan Moynihan recently did a Kickstarter campaign that I thought was pretty cool.
You can check out the "You're Not Too Old" skateboard deck and the SK8 or Doodle zine at Danmart (Dan's Etsy site).
The Project
"Earlier this year, I painted this image on my broken skateboard deck. It's a message to myself, and to anyone else who wants to grab it: "You're Not Too Old!" It's not too late to dream and to do the things that you really want to do. Go for it!"I was agreeable to some inspiration at the time, so I attempted to lend my moral support. which, you know, can be quantitatively measured as not very useful to a kickstarter project. Nevertheless I received an original ink drawing of a skater in action AND the SK8 or Doodle: Skateboarding Comics Zine! The trick on my page was coffin. I don't know if Dan chose coffin because it sounds similar to my last name... or maybe he deduced my religious leaning and a lot can be read into the seemingly prayerful pose as the coffin barrels down a hill... or maybe it's some sort of Massachusetts Mafia warning... or maybe it was random. I guess I could ask.

Directory of Illustration #29
I decided to put an ad in the last Directory of Illustration. It seems to be paying off. Plus, I get this giant book full of awesome pictures.
