Centurion Transportation

This 1985 Centurion Sport DLX is how I used to get to work in 2016. It was an upgrade from the ladies bike I had been riding after my Schwinn was stolen. Coincidentally, 4 years later I just finished This drawing and even ordered new blue tires and handlebar tape for it when my current commuter (A Mazda3) threw a rod. Alas, I can't go back to the bike because instead on a one mile trip to work, I have 33 miles of highway to traverse on the daily. But I do expect to ride it recreationally if Pax will learn to ride his bike this summer.

Epic Summer 2015

The summer of 2015 was pretty nice. Christy had her kidney transplant so she wasn't on dialysis and I was only working about 32 hours a week. Never before had we been able to just get up and go do things whenever we wanted. We had whole entire weekends available for camping and beaching and whatnot.

Blockade Runner Bendigo

The wreck of the Civil War blockade runner Bendigo is now partially above water at low tide. So we went out to see it.
It seems that it's commonly misidentified as the USS Iron Age. But the Iron Age is a screw-propelled (propeller) steam engine and this wreck is definitely a paddlewheel steamer. Which is consistent with the Bendigo. The Iron Age is out there somewhere though. It ran aground trying to salvage the Bendigo.
You can read the reports from Captain Edward E. Stone and the other navy ships involved in the "Annual Report of the Secretary of the Navy with an Appendix Containing Reports from Officers December, 1864" in Google books:

Also, I got stung by a jellyfish.
